ABOUT

Based in Montara, California, these pieces are conceived, designed and created by hand. All glazes are hand made, mixed and fired in one of two kilns on our family farm. The work is done in a geodesic dome, surrounded by gardens, eucalyptus groves, an orchard, animals and my family.

Catherine Henry - Wild Woman Pottery

Catherine (Riis) Henry has been a potter since 1994, starting with a few art classes and blossoming from a hobby into a business and lifestyle. Her passion was first ignited working with the collective Kelly Avenue Potters in Half Moon Bay, CA for 17 years, learning and refining her craft. In 2005 she built a home studio on her family farm comprised of a geodesic dome, a glaze-mixing studio, a bisque kiln with a glazing barn and a down draft gas kiln.

The Pottery

All the pottery is non-toxic and dishwasher safe. It is a local home operation that works in small batches that are carefully crafted. Pieces are both wheel thrown and hand sculpted and are glazed and fired on site at our farm nestled in a back valley of the Montara hills in California.
